Q-Tech Corporation announced the availability of a tin-lead (SnPb) solder version of its popular AXTAL AXLE7050S temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO). Featuring the same low phase noise and radiation-hardened specs of its parent, the new AXLE7050S-PB (“PB” model) TXCO utilizes SnPb solder for the components on top of the package and an SnPb finish for the high-reliability passive components inside the package. Unlike other New Space models using pure tin, the AXLE7050S-PB TXCO mitigates tin whisker issues in satellite applications.

The AXLE7050S-PB is available in frequencies ranging from 10 to 50 MHz, with either clipped sinewave (CSW) or HCMOS output. It is manufactured in compliance with MIL-PRF-55310, Level S and is enclosed in a compact (7 x  5 x 1.8 mm) hermetically sealed package. It features high TID radiation tolerance (40 KRad(Si)) and SEL immunity (> 90 MeV), low phase noise (> -155 dB at > 100 KHz offset) and exceptional stability (< ±1 ppm over -40°C to +85°C). Utilizing SnPb solder and high-rel parts with SnPb finish, the AXLE7050S-PB assures reliable connections without the potential for tin whisker issues.
